What is expected from us when it comes to God’s command to keeping the Sabbath day holy (Ex 20:8-11)? Which day is the Christian Sabbath? Day One Christian Ministries (incorporating the Lord’s Day Observance Society) was founded in 1831 and has been working to preserve the sanctity and benefits of the Lord's Day in our increasingly commercialised and secular society. Our starting point is and always has been the Divine Authority and perpetual obligation of the Christian Sabbath or Lord's Day, and that in asserting that obligation, the gospel of the Grace of God through Christ Jesus should be proclaimed. The Scottish Association with its www.dayonescotland.org web site recommends Christian books, allows visitors to download booklets and other materials to help them learn more about the importance of the Lord’s day-sabbath.
We believe the issue of the Lord's day-sabbath is not to do with living in the past but obeying God's Word today and every day. The human soul needs the Christian Sabbath, for the Lord's day is its ‘market day’. The care of man's immortal soul is closely tied up with the practice of keeping Sunday as a day of holy worship and rest. From the Bible; the Apostolic Fathers of the Church; John Calvin and other Magisterial Reformers; the British and American Puritans; the great Protestant Confessions; contemporary theologians and the great preachers of the gospel, we endeavour to tell the story and teach the theology of the Lord’s day-sabbath in media audio sermons, book reviews, relevant bibliography, personalised testimonies and through the Day One Christian Ministries magazine we seek to reach out with the contemporary and relevant message of the Christian Sabbath to the nation today.
